This position will work cross-functionally with the Executive Leadership Team to develop Trustmark's strategic position on regulatory, legislative and government matters. This position leads the analysis of such actions, partners with Trustmark Enterprise Leadership Team ( ELT) and the Leadership of the company's business units to determine the potential impact on the organization and develops appropriate responses. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Percentage of Time 90% Identify legislative, regulatory and litigation developments with the potential to adversely or beneficially impact Trustmark's businesses, and work cross-functionally with the potentially impacted business units to assess the impact of the developments and devise a strategy to mitigate those risks. Leverage legislative tracking software solution to identify and prioritize risks most pertinent to the Company. Prepare comments on proposed legislation, regulation, and guidance, and coordinate with business partners to obtain input and participate in joint efforts through pertinent trade associations; Present on an as-needed basis to the Chief Executive Officer and the ELT on high profile government affairs issues impacting the industry and Trustmark's businesses. Present to the Board of Directors as requested Update the business unit leadership teams, on an as-needed basis, on government affairs issues, with the purpose of obtaining business perspective and contributing to business strategy. Represent Trustmark in various industry trade associations and industry coalition meetings, and other government affairs events. Serve as the point person for Trustmark's participation in the trade associations, and oversee communications/relationships with same. Attend and advise on an as-needed basis at quarterly business unit leadership/strategy team meetings. Identify, retain and manage external contract lobbyists, outside counsel, and consultants as necessary, and oversee all communications with same. Serve as a member of the Enterprise Risk Committee, and engage in enterprise risk management activities related to policy related risks; 10% Other duties as needed/assigned by the General Counsel. 1 Implement and configure legislative and regulatory tracking software solution for purposes of streamlining review of proposed legislation and regulation affecting Trustmark's operating divisions, which information is regularly used for reporting to the ELT; Independently research and analyze pending legislation and regulations, as needed by Government Relations EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE Minimum Requirements and Core Competencies Preferred Bachelor's Degree Experience presenting to C-Suites and Boards of Directors on strategic projects and external activities affecting the business of the organization; Experience working cross functionally with other teams Exceptional interpersonal and diplomatic skills, emotional intelligence, and judgment; Exceptional oral and written communication skills, analytical ability, and business acumen. At least 10
years legal experience, in both law firm and in-house environment. Background in advising regulated entities, and third-party administrators of self-funded health plans.
Salary Range:
$100K -- $150K
Minimum Qualification
Government & MilitaryEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
